As a software developer, I’ve always been drawn to researching new technology. For a long time, though, this felt somewhat pointless—I’d learn something new, but rarely had the opportunity to actually apply that knowledge in practice.
That’s when I started automating my home.
Home automation became the perfect playground: a real-world environment where I could experiment, learn, and immediately see the results of what I was building. It gave purpose to all that research and tinkering.
